Adding lyrics helps fans sing along and makes your music easier to discover.
Adding lyrics
In the Track Details step of the upload wizard, paste the lyrics into the Lyrics field of each track. Lyrics are optional. For instrumental tracks, set the language to No lyrics / Instrumental and leave the field empty.
When a track has lyrics, it becomes eligible for LyricFind, which delivers lyrics to lyric services. See Additional Delivery Options.
Formatting rules
Lyrics that do not follow these rules are flagged before submission:
- Write only the words that are sung. Do not add titles, credits, "Chorus" labels or notes.
- Use one line per sung line and a single empty line between sections.
- No double spaces or tabs, and no more than two empty lines in a row.
- No repeated punctuation such as "!!!" or "...?!".
- Do not write whole lines in CAPITAL LETTERS.
- Write repeated parts out in full instead of writing "x2".
Time-synced lyrics
Lyrics that scroll in time with the music, such as Spotify's synced lyrics or Apple Music Sing, are not added in the upload wizard. See Time-Synced Lyrics with Musixmatch.
