What Happens If a Payment Fails?

If your subscription cannot be renewed, for example because a card has expired or has insufficient funds, you are not cut off straight away.

Grace period

You have a 3-day grace period from the first failed renewal attempt. During this time your plan keeps working normally.

Fixing the payment

1. Go to Settings → Billing and open the billing portal.
2. Update your payment method.
3. The renewal is retried with the new details.

While a payment is past due, you cannot change plans. Fix the payment first.

If the payment is not fixed

When the grace period ends without a successful payment, your plan ends. The same rules apply as for a cancelled plan: your releases stay live, but new uploads are locked and a 20% commission applies to royalties processed while you have no active plan. See Cancelling Your Subscription.
