You can remove a Live release from all stores yourself.
Taking a release down
- Open the release in your dashboard.
- Choose Take down and confirm.
The status changes to Takedown and you receive a "Release Takedown Initiated" email. Stores then remove the release on their own schedules, so it can stay visible on some platforms for a while after you request the takedown.
Before you take a release down
- Streams and playlists are lost. If you plan to re-release the music, keep the same ISRCs so stores can reconnect it.
- Audio files are deleted from DistroVibe as part of the takedown, so keep your own copies.
- Earnings already generated are still paid. Stores report with a 1–3 month delay, so royalties can keep arriving after the takedown.
Releases that cannot be taken down yet
While a release is being sent to stores (Sending to stores, Store delivery check or Delivered to stores), it cannot be pulled back. Wait until it is Live, or open a support ticket under Distribution if it is urgent.
Releases that are not live yet
Releases in Draft, DistroVibe review, Approved, Needs Docs or Rejected status are simply deleted instead of taken down.
Cancelling your subscription does not take releases down
Your releases stay live if you cancel. Take them down here if you want them removed.
