DistroVibe fully supports the distribution of explicit tracks, provided they are accurately tagged during the upload process.

What Qualifies as Explicit?

A track must be flagged as Explicit if it contains:

  • Strong profanity or vulgarity

  • Explicit sexual references or descriptions

  • Graphic depictions of violence or self-harm

  • Heavy substance or drug references

Why Accurate Tagging Is Essential

  • Parental Controls & Age Gates: Major digital storefronts (such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon) use explicit metadata flags to enforce parental locks and filter content for younger listeners.

  • Regional Compliance: Certain international markets restrict or filter explicit audio by law. Proper flagging ensures your release is served compliant with local regulations.

  • Takedown Prevention: Delivering an explicit track labeled as "Clean" violates DSP ingestion standards and will result in quality-control rejections, playlist exclusions, or post-delivery store takedowns.

How to Flag Tracks in the Uploader

  1. In the Track Details section of the DistroVibe Uploader, locate the Explicit Content toggle for each track.

  2. Set the flag to Yes (Explicit) for any track containing mature themes or explicit lyrics.

  3. If an album contains even one explicit song, mark that specific track; DSPs will automatically append the explicit **[E]**badge to the song and update the album's advisory rating.

  4. If you are releasing a radio-friendly edit where profanities have been muted or replaced, mark that specific version as Clean.
