Understanding YouTube "Release - Topic" & "Various Artists" Channels
Why new YouTube Art Tracks can first appear on "Release - Topic" or "Various Artists - Topic" channels, and when they move to your own Topic channel.
When DistroVibe delivers your releases to YouTube Music, Art Tracks are generated automatically on YouTube. Right after delivery, your tracks may first appear on a channel titled "Release - Topic" or under a "Various Artists - Topic" channel instead of your artist name.
This is usually a temporary state in YouTube's automated processing and does not by itself mean your metadata was submitted incorrectly.
Why Does This Temporary Mapping Occur?
Processing New Deliveries: YouTube processes new releases in stages, and tracks can sit on a temporary channel while that processing finishes.
Artist Matching: YouTube checks whether an
[Artist Name] - Topicchannel already exists for your music or whether a new auto-generated Topic channel needs to be created.
Resolution Timeline & Automatic Remapping
Temporary Placement: Once YouTube finishes processing, your tracks normally move automatically to your own
[Artist Name] - Topicchannel.Expected Timeframe: This usually happens within about 30 days of delivery. You do not need to open a ticket during this period.
Still Not Moved? If your tracks are still on a temporary channel after 30 days, or they appear on another artist's channel, open a YouTube Remapping support ticket.
Unlocking Your Official Artist Channel (OAC)
Once your music appears on your own [Artist Name] - Topic channel, you can request an upgrade to a YouTube Official Artist Channel (OAC):
An OAC merges your Topic channel, your own channel, and any VEVO channel into one destination.
It gives your channel the verified music note badge (🎵) and combines your subscribers into a single count.
Request it from your DistroVibe Dashboard by opening a Support ticket in the YouTube Official Artist Channel Requests category. YouTube makes the final decision.
For eligibility requirements and the request process, see our guide: YouTube Official Artist Channel (OAC) Guidelines & Request Process.
