Can I Deliver Explicit Content?

DistroVibe distributes explicit tracks when they are correctly marked with the Explicit Content toggle in the release wizard.

Yes. DistroVibe distributes explicit tracks, as long as they are marked correctly when you create the release.

What counts as explicit?

Mark a track as Explicit if it contains:

  • Strong profanity or vulgarity
  • Explicit sexual references or descriptions
  • Graphic depictions of violence or self-harm
  • Heavy references to drugs or other substances

Why correct marking matters

  • Parental controls: Stores such as Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon use the explicit flag for parental controls and to filter content for younger listeners.
  • Regional rules: Some markets restrict or filter explicit content. Correct marking helps stores apply local rules.
  • Avoiding removals: Delivering an explicit track that is not marked as explicit breaks store rules and can lead to rejection, exclusion from playlists or removal by the store.

How to mark tracks in the release wizard

  1. In the Track Details step, find the Explicit Content toggle for each track.
  2. Turn the toggle on for every track with explicit lyrics or mature content.
  3. If a release has even one explicit track, mark that track. Stores then usually show the explicit badge on the track and the release.
  4. For a clean or radio edit where explicit words are muted or replaced, leave the toggle off for that version.
