Setting up two-factor authentication (2FA)

Updated July 23, 2026

Why this matters

Your DistroVibe account isn't just a content management tool — it's connected to your royalty wallet and payout methods. An account takeover doesn't just risk your releases; it risks your earnings. 2FA is the single most effective step you can take to prevent that, since it means a stolen password alone isn't enough to log in.

Setting it up

  1. Go to Settings → Security.
  2. Choose your 2FA method: an authenticator app (recommended — apps like Google Authenticator or Authy generate time-based codes that work even without an internet connection) or email code (a code sent to your account email each time).
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to link your chosen method and confirm setup with a test code.

What changes once it's enabled

Any time you log in from a device or browser we haven't seen before, you'll be asked for a second code from your chosen 2FA method in addition to your password. Devices you use regularly typically won't be re-prompted every single time, depending on your browser's settings.

Backup codes and account recovery

When you set up 2FA, you'll typically be shown backup codes — save these somewhere safe and separate from your primary 2FA device (a password manager, printed and stored securely, etc.). You are solely responsible for safeguarding your 2FA credentials. If you lose access to your 2FA method and don't have backup codes, account recovery requires proper identity verification through our support team, which takes longer than a normal password reset and may require documentation to confirm you're the legitimate account owner.

Switching or disabling 2FA

You can change your 2FA method or, if truly necessary, disable it entirely from the same Security settings page — though we don't recommend disabling it once set up, given what's tied to your account.
