Requesting a VEVO channel for your videos

Updated August 8, 2026

How this differs from a standard video submission

Requesting a VEVO channel is a more detailed, separate request from simply submitting a video for distribution (see "Submitting an official music video"). Vevo requires a fuller set of metadata upfront because it's setting up a dedicated channel presence for you across Vevo's own platform and connected-TV distribution, not just delivering one video.

What you'll need to provide

  • Video title
  • ISRC and UPC for the associated release
  • Genre and language
  • Label name
  • Recording year
  • Copyright information
  • Producer and director credits
  • Editor credit
  • Featured artist information, if applicable
  • A download link to the video file
  • Your existing YouTube channel link, if you have one
  • Your requested channel name, if you're setting up a new Vevo-specific channel

Why so much detail is required

Vevo channels function similarly to a mini record-label presence on their platform — the metadata feeds their own editorial and cataloging systems, which is more extensive than what a single video upload to YouTube needs. Having accurate producer/director/editor credits also matters for proper attribution and any sync/licensing inquiries that come through Vevo's own channels later.

Before you submit

Gather all of the above ahead of time rather than starting the request and hunting for details partway through — recording year, copyright line, and full production credits are the fields artists most often need to go find rather than have on hand immediately.
